Festival Village in the Merchant City reopens with World Cup Fanzone and festive menu

Football fans in the city looking for a spot to watch all the World Cup games over the next month will be delighted to bear that Festival Village: Merchant City is launching its very own fanzone.

Alongside a new festive menu and atmospheric fire pits, the World Cup fanzone will run across November and December (subject to licensing) and will allow fans to watch every World Cup game live on huge screens, soaking up the atmosphere with other supporters.

As well as the usual drinks offering, there will also be Greek street food from returning local street food connoisseurs 'Feta' and World Cup Fanzone beer buckets: iced buckets of 5 après-ski style Jubel beers for just £20.

New this year will be The Churros Van, which opens alongside Feta, for Festival Village’s opening weekend, offering delicious hot churros available on-site throughout the festive period.

Keeping with the festive theme of the season, the beer garden will also offer a drinks menu including mulled wine, mulled cider, homemade spiced apple and spiced cranberry hot serves, baileys hot chocolate and Grey Goose hot chocolate l’Orange.

In December, the event space will see the arrival of a huge Christmas tree centrepiece, with the outdoor drinking spot offering their “Christmas in Style” packages: warming street food from Feta and The Churros Van, four festive drinks, a stick of marshmallows to toast on the fire pits – and a Santa hat to really get into the Christmas spirit – for just £30 per person.

Though they are accepting walk-ins, bigger groups can book ahead via the Design My Night website, with the events space reopening on Thursday, November 17, and will be open Thursday until Sunday, 11 am until 10 pm.
