Fenerbahce defender wants Tottenham transfer amid Napoli interest in £13m Koulibaly replacement

Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-jae is understood to want a move to Tottenham this summer, despite interest from Napoli and Stade Rennes.

Spurs recently signed Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan deal as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen his defence ahead of next season. Min-jae joined Fenerbahce last season and has impressed with his performances for the Turkish side.

football.london understands that the Lilywhites are looking to sign two or three more signings before the transfer deadline. Reports in Italy suggest Napoli have identified the South Korea international as a potential replacement for the outgoing Kalidou Koulibaly, who is expected to sign for Chelsea after the Blues agreed a £33million fee with the Serie A club.

According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno, Napoli must ‘beat the competition’ from Spurs, Everton and Rennes to sign the 25-year-old this summer. The defender has been hoping for a move to the Premier League and to join Tottenham, but Conte’s side are targeting other players to add to their defensive options.

Jules Kounde has been linked with a move to Spurs this summer after it was reported the French defender is growing frustrated with Chelsea's pursuit of him. Sevilla are open to selling Kounde this summer, valuing him at around £65million, with the Spanish outfit in need of funds to strengthen other areas of the squad.

Kim Min-jae has a release clause of £13million, with Fenerbahce willing to allow the player to leave should that fee be met, representing a much cheaper alternative to Kounde if Spurs choose to pursue the South Korea international.

The Lilywhites are currently on their pre-season tour of the country and could look to star striker Son Heung-min for a character reference prior to any potential move for Min-jae.

The 25-year-old made 39 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish side last season and was one of Fenerbahce's best performers in the Europa League and Super Lig.
