Gardai have launched an investigation after a female taxi driver was allegedly "punched twenty times" in west Dublin.
The incident happened outside a house in Lucan shortly after midnight on Monday, December 19. The female taxi driver claims that she was "punched more than twenty times" after she she confronted a passenger who had refused to pay his fare after being dropped home, the Irish Independent reports.
The female taxi driver had picked up a couple outside a pub after dropping off another two passengers in Lucan village. However, upon reaching their destination the female taxi driver claims that the pair did not pay their taxi fare and entered a property.

The female taxi driver said that she knocked on the door of property, and she told the Irish Independent that the male passenger eventually opened the door. She said: "The man then came out and was trying to pull me inside.
"I turned around and ran away but he grabbed me by the hair and pulled me to the ground and started punching me. He punched me more than 20 times in two minutes.”
The female taxi driver sustained serious injuries and required medical care. A garda spokesman confirmed to Dublin Live that they are investigating the alleged assault on the female taxi driver.
The garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Lucan are investigating the alleged assault of a female outside a residence in Lucan, Co. Dublin shortly after midnight on Monday 19th December 2022. The injured female sought medical attention for serious but what are understood to be non-life threatening injuries.
"No arrests have been made at this time and investigations are ongoing."
