The Justice Department is reportedly intensifying its investigation into music mogul Sean Diddy Combs, with sources indicating that federal authorities are preparing to bring several of Combs' accusers before a grand jury in the near future. This development follows federal raids on Combs' residences in Los Angeles and Miami, during which agents were seen carrying items including a cardboard box and bags.
So far, eight individuals have filed civil lawsuits against Combs, with seven of them alleging sexual assault. Some of these plaintiffs have reportedly been interviewed by federal investigators, signaling a widening probe that now includes allegations of sex trafficking, money laundering, and illegal drug charges.
Among the accusers is model Crystal McKinney, who claims that Combs drugged her in 2003 and forced her to perform oral sex. Another plaintiff, Joy Dickerson Neal, alleges that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by Combs in 1991. Combs has denied many of these allegations, including those related to the civil lawsuits.
While Combs' attorney has criticized the federal raids as excessive and labeled the investigation as a witch hunt based on unfounded accusations, investigators are reportedly delving deeper into the case. A male sex worker who claims to be a victim of Combs has also been interviewed, with sources suggesting that federal authorities are reviewing footage related to the allegations.
Despite a video from 2016 showing Combs engaging in violent behavior towards his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office has stated that the incident is beyond the statute of limitations for assault charges. However, Ventura and other plaintiffs have alleged additional crimes, potentially supporting federal investigators in pursuing more serious charges.
While the possibility of a federal indictment looms, sources indicate that investigators are proceeding cautiously to ensure a strong case.
