The first ever February bank holiday weekend is upon us, and for those thinking about getting their grocery shopping there are a few changes to be aware of.
This new bank holiday was established to celebrate Imbolc and St Brigid's Day, falling on the first Monday in every February. Whatever you’re doing this weekend, it’s likely that you’ll need to go to the shop - but there might be changes to the hours of your local supermarket this weekend.
Some places will simply operate Sunday hours on the bank holiday Monday while others will have complete changes. Here's a full breakdown on the opening hours for the bank holiday in Dunnes Stores, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Supervalu and Marks & Spencer stores.
Dunnes Stores
Different owners of Dunnes will put in place different times so you will have to check for your own local spot.
You can check out your own shop hours right here.
Tesco
Tesco opening hours change depending on each individual store. But usually, their bank holiday hours are the same as normal Monday.
For example, Tesco in Phibsborough, Co Dublin opens from 8am- 10pm on Saturday, 9am - 9pm on Sunday and 9am - 8pm on Bank Holiday Monday. Check what times your local Tesco will open using their store locator here.
