Renfrewshire Council officials have refused to put further protective measures in place to stop drivers crashing into suds ponds.
Councillor James MacLaren has expressed disappointment following fears at two spots in Bishopton.
The ponds are built at roads and on new housing developments to allow excess water to drain naturally rather than fire into drains.

The Scottish Conservative and Unionist Councillor raised concerns with council officials over the pond at the top of Barrangary Road and another one near to Craigmuir Farm at Greenock Road, near to the new M8 roundabout.
Councillor MacLaren has raised concerns over “boy racers” in the area and fears that one of them could be going too fast at the roundabout and be catapulted into the pond.
He had called on council officials to erect further barriers having been contacted by a retired police officer over their concerns.
However, officials responded to Councillor MacLaren saying that the risk is low to very low and the council have “done what they can” to limit the speed of the road.
Councillor MacLaren said: “All too often we have boy racers going at high speed around Bishopton and that could result in a serious incident occurring if we are not careful. These suds ponds could be 10 feet deep and the presence of reeds in these ponds means it is likely that they will not be able to open a door to get out, and more so if the car is upside down.
“A simple measure to extend the barriers would be a positive step forward to stop drivers who are going too fast crashing into a pond.
“I am extremely disappointed that council officials have dismissed these calls. It is clear that the council could do more to limit speeding motorists on our local roads, given the number of complaints I still receive about speeding from constituents.
“These concerns were brought to me by a retired police officer so I hoped they could be taken on board, particularly because current crash barriers are not in the right place.
“Clamping down on speeding remains a top priority for me and I will ask council officials to look at these proposals again.”
