Fearne Cotton has shared that her surgery to remove two tumours on her jawline was successful and she is now recovering.
The TV and radio star revealed on Tuesday night that she was scheduled for surgery after doctors discovered two growing but benign tumours.
Providing an update on Wednesday, Fearne wrote on Instagram: “Operation went really well. Recovering and resting. Thanks so much for all the kind messages.”
Her announcement comes just a week after her friend Davina McCall, 57, revealed she needed surgery for a rare brain tumour.
The former Celebrity Juice captain revealed that McCall had been a source of great support to her after she discovered her own tumours, describing her as a “beacon of positivity”.
McCall was one of the first to share her support to Cotton under her initial post that said: “Sending you so much healing and love. Can’t wait to give you a huge gentle cuddle.”
Last month, the Masked Singer UK judge said she was recovering from her surgery which was to remove a colloid cyst – a type of rare fluid-filled benign tumour in the brain.
A benign tumour is a mass of cells that are non-cancerous, tend to stay in one place and can be safely removed during surgery.
McCall wasn’t the only famous face to voice their support, with radio presenter, Zoe Ball penning: “oh darling girl. be brave as and know you'll be well looked after. all my love x”.
And fellow Radio DJ Lauren Laverne echoed: “Well done for getting sorted, doll. Wishing you a full and speedy recovery and sending tons of love your way. You’ll be reet. Xx”.
Singer Sophie Ellis Bextor also commented: “Rest up lovely woman and sending you lots of love xxx”, while Little Mix's Perrie Edwards added: “Sending love!”
Good Will Hunting star Minnie Driver wrote: “Love you Fearne. Sending you all the love” while Lisa Snowdon penned: 'Sending love and well wishes beautiful”
Broadcaster Nicki Chapman, who also had to have surgery to remove a non-cancerous brain tumour in 2019, added: “Sending so much love xxxx”.
On Tuesday, Cotton took to her Instagram to reveal her health battle in a short video.
She said: “I’ve got a benign tumour just in my jaw here, below my ear, another little tiny one above it.
“I’m very grateful they’re benign but they do need to come out because they’re on a nerve. So I’m gonna have that surgery, and then I’m gonna be resting to get better before Christmas.
“Not very good at resting, so wondering how that’s gonna go. But I’m feeling OK about it. I’m going into the operation feeling good and well.”
She also said her podcast, Happy Place, will “carry on as normal”.
“I’ll be doing all the regular stuff, I’ve banked a load of good episodes so that will still be rolling out, and I’ll see you soon.”
In the caption she explained she had “felt a lump under my ear on my jawline a while ago now but this year noticed it was growing”.
She added: “Turns out it’s a benign tumour and another small one above it on the saliva gland.
“It’s obviously so weird that only a couple of months ago Davina told me about her tumour and then weeks later I was calling her having discovered mine.
“I’m not only lucky she’s a bloody good mate but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to this stuff.”
