FDA Launches New Neuroscience Program to Improve Alzheimer's Prevention Trials and Support Future Treatments for Brain Disorders

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched a new program to address scientific and regulatory challenges in developing treatments for brain disorders, beginning with an initiative focused on preventing or delaying Alzheimer's disease.

Announced Oct. 22, the Neuroscience Advancement and Innovation Nexus (NAIN) will coordinate expertise across the agency's medical product centers. Its first initiative, the Alzheimer's Prevention Accelerator, will explore ways to improve clinical trials, including how researchers select participants and measure whether an intervention delays cognitive decline.
