People starting Imdelltra for advanced small cell lung cancer will now be monitored for 6 to 8 hours from the start of each of their first two infusions, down from the 22 to 24 hours previously recommended, after the FDA approved an update to the drug's prescribing information, Amgen announced on September 14.
The change targets one of the most practical barriers to the treatment. Nearly a full day of observation can mean an overnight stay, which can be hard to arrange outside large hospitals. Amgen noted that an estimated 80% to 85% of U.S. cancer patients receive care in community oncology practices.
