FC Barcelona has shared a photo of its midfielder Gavi back in training. The 19-year-old player had been sidelined since mid-November due to a ruptured ACL tendon in his right knee, which occurred during international duty for Spain against Georgia. This injury had ruled him out for the remainder of the 2023/2024 season as well as the Euros with his national team.
Barcelona faced challenges in Gavi's absence, losing the Spanish Super Cup title to Real Madrid and trailing by eight points in La Liga. However, the team secured a spot in the Champions League quarterfinals with a victory over Napoli.
While Gavi is not expected to make a quick return, the club showcased his progress in a recent training session. In a photo titled 'Recovery day on the beach,' Gavi was seen running with visible scars on his knee from the surgery he underwent in November.
Barcelona also released a video documenting Gavi's recovery process, highlighting his lower body exercises aimed at improving functionality. The young midfielder is focused on regaining fitness over the summer to prepare for the upcoming season, which kicks off in mid-August.
Since his debut in 2021, Gavi has made 111 appearances for Barcelona across various competitions, scoring seven goals. While his participation in the preseason tour of the United States remains uncertain, fans are hopeful for his return in peak condition for the new season.
