A former FBoy Island Australia contestant has been refused bail in the Brisbane Supreme Court after facing a long list of serious allegations involving multiple women.
Riccardo Valenza, 31, from Mooloolaba, applied for release on strict bail conditions on Wednesday after spending about three months in custody. The reality TV personality, who appeared on the 2023 season of the dating show, is currently facing 47 charges involving 12 complainants aged between 26 and 35.
The charges include 14 counts of rape, as well as allegations of stalking, harassment and administering a stupefying drug. He has not entered any pleas and did not appear in court.
Police allege Valenza engaged with multiple women via social media between July 2023 and November 2025, soliciting sexual acts for money. The court heard that after he was initially granted bail in October last year on a smaller number of charges, further complainants came forward, significantly expanding the case.
Crown prosecutor Dani Giorgio told the court that police later searched Valenza’s property and allegedly found multiple mobile phones, despite bail conditions limiting him to a single device. It was also alleged he contacted at least one complainant through Instagram while on bail.
During the hearing, the court was told Valenza had allegedly been assaulted while in custody, suffering “multiple facial fractures” and requiring hospital treatment. Defence solicitor Nathan Turner said his client had since developed “acute awareness to comply” with any future bail conditions.
Turner argued that strict measures, including curfews, travel restrictions, a ban on social media and limited phone access, would reduce the risk of reoffending. He also said some of the interactions referenced in the charges began as consensual “transactional” arrangements.
“Some of them are complainants who at the start of communications were willing and cooperative and offered nudes or videos of themselves in exchange for money,” Turner told the court, per Courier Mail.
However, the prosecution pushed back, with Giorgio arguing it was “difficult” to assess some of the evidence due to incomplete message records and deleted conversations.
Justice Martin Burns ultimately refused the application, pointing to concerns around alleged breaches of previous bail conditions and the seriousness of the accusations.
“He presents as an unacceptable risk,” Justice Burns said, per news.com.au.
“The concern I have … is whether he will comply with those conditions.
“In the end my concern is fuelled by what appears to be fairly strong prosecution cases on the breach of bail charges he faces.”
Valenza remains in custody, with the matter adjourned to a later date. His case is next due to be mentioned in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on June 15.
