Officials have identified the vehicle used by the suspect in the fatal New Year’s attack in New Orleans as a Ford pickup truck, which appears to be rented. The FBI is currently working to confirm how the suspect obtained the vehicle.
During a media briefing, FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge revealed that an ISIS flag was found on the trailer hitch of the vehicle. The FBI is actively investigating the suspect's potential associations with terrorist organizations.
Additionally, weapons and potential improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were discovered in the vehicle. Two IEDs have been located in the French Quarter and safely rendered inert by FBI special agent bomb technicians and local law enforcement.
The authorities are diligently working to determine if any other devices are viable and will take necessary steps to ensure public safety.
