According to NewsNation, the FBI confirmed that it is investigating the alleged compromise of FBIJobs.gov and the potential impact on employee personally identifiable information (PII). The bureau said it is working with third-party providers supporting the portal and has not yet determined where the breach originated.

The FBI said the investigation is focused on determining whether the alleged intrusion occurred within its own enterprise systems or through a third-party provider connected to FBIJobs.gov. The bureau has not publicly confirmed the full extent of the data allegedly accessed.

According to Reuters, ShinyHunters claimed it had obtained data belonging to FBI employees and applicants, while media reports examining samples supplied by the group found information that appeared to correspond to real personnel. The full authenticity and scope of the alleged dataset have not been independently established.

Reports said the allegedly exposed information may include names, home addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, job titles and other personal details. The Register reported that samples provided by ShinyHunters appeared to contain additional sensitive information, including Social Security numbers and emergency-contact details.
