Federal and state investigators searched social adult day care centers in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and other locations on Tuesday, Oct. 20, as part of a months-long probe of more than 100 providers suspected of Medicaid fraud. The FBI joined a state-federal working group for the operation, FOX 5 New York reported. Authorities have not released a full list of the centers involved.
Most providers under review have not been charged. On Wednesday, the Staten Island district attorney announced charges against the owner and program director of one center, according to The South Shore Press. Both have pleaded not guilty, and the charges are allegations.
