Match Recap – FaZe vs MOUZ – StarLadder Budapest Major 2025 quarterfinal

Nuke – A tale of T sides – 13-11

FaZe came into the match under pressure, with the desk highlighting broky and jcobbb as the key to their success — and the duo wasted no time proving the prediction right. Explosive entries on B set the tempo early as FaZe stormed through MOUZ’s defenses, following it up with a lightning-fast A hit that forced a save. Twistzz flipped a near-impossible round after Brollan’s strong start in hut, and even as MOUZ tried stabilizing with Jimi’s salvaged AK, FaZe’s ramp pop and relentless pace overwhelmed them. Karrigan’s no-breath style kept MOUZ on the ropes until a much-needed timeout after round six.

That brief break allowed MOUZ to reset — momentarily. broky’s AWP was unleashed as FaZe slowed things down, but even when MOUZ seemed ready, FaZe found another gear. In a throwback moment, karrigan wielded broky’s AWP with vintage precision, turning what looked like a lost round into a stunning recovery. MOUZ’s attempts at aggression looked promising when Spinx struck early from the T roof, but any momentum was quickly snuffed out. Twistzz’s monstrous entry with a tec9 dismantled their defense, and jcobbb capped the half with a stylish quad kill for a commanding 9-3 FaZe lead.

The second half flipped the script as MOUZ came alive on the T side. Brollan’s pistol-round heroics got them rolling, and a composed string of rounds quickly cut the deficit. Clutch after clutch from Brollan and Spinx powered a six-round streak that tied things up at nine apiece. FaZe’s CT side looked shaky until a triple AWP setup — including an unexpected kill from torzsi — gave them a lifeline. But MOUZ weren’t backing down, keeping the pressure on and forcing the scoreline into deep waters.

When it mattered most, FaZe found their trademark late-game composure. With match point in reach, an economic squeeze pushed MOUZ into a desperate buy, and jcobbb’s M4 dealt the crucial blow. Even as Jimpphat’s deagle cracked open the ramp, MOUZ’s decision to pivot into heaven backfired, letting FaZe collapse on the A site for their twelfth. broky sealed the deal with sharp AWP work outside, and as MOUZ fell apart in the final moments, the Latvian closed out a thrilling 13–11 finish.

Inferno – FaZe annihilate MOUZ to takea top 4 – 13-2

Clearly brimming with confidence, FaZe kick started Inferno with a pistol round conversion on the CT side. In the gun round, MOUZ attempted a bracket take on A, but FaZe’s stars held strong, forcing sycrone to take his first timeout. That proved fruitful as his squad cracked the A site, taking their first round. FaZe, however, retained their momentum, doubling down their CT defences. That allowed FaZe to extend into a massive 10-2 lead.

It would have been hard for MOUZ to come back from that deficit anyways, but a pistol loss truly confirmed FaZe’s semifinals berth. The map closed at an enormous 13-2 scoreline

A supercharged FaZe Clan now heads into the semifinals to take on the winner of Furia vs. NAVI. Across the major, the team has completely transformed, going from an elimination-worthy performance in Stage 1, to a world-beater level in the playoffs. If NAVI make it past Furia, FaZe will be facing a comfortable foe for a Grand Finals berth. If Furia keeps their cool, then FaZe will have to take down the world’s best. It has been done before. Can Karrigan do it again?
