Fauldhouse United boss hails attacking threat after knocking Bathgate Thistle for six

Fauldhouse United manager Colin Hendry was pleased with his side’s performance as they came out 6-3 victors against derby rivals Bathgate Thistle at Creamery Park, writes Kieran Polland.

The Hoose shared the goals amongst the squad throughout the 90 minutes and Hendry praised the team’s ability to be clinical in front of goal especially after an enforced lay-off over the festive period.

Alistair Morgan, Conor Scullion, Stephen McLay, and Kieran Kinnaird all found the net in the win over the Jags - with Liam Scullion also tallying a second half double.

He said: “It’s been a while since we last played. We’ve had a couple of training sessions, but it’s been hard through Christmas and we’ve had a couple of guys off with covid.

“I was pleased with the goals and the amount of chances we managed to create, but we just need to shore up at the back a bit more. But that will come as I could tell we were a bit rusty.”

Hendry candidly admitted that since he took over from Chris Mackie earlier in the season, this was the first time that he was able to work with the entirety of the squad at his disposal which allowed him to make the necessary attacking substitutions to kill the game off.

“It’s the first day since I came in that we’ve had the full squad," he said. "There’s always been injuries or guys missing for one reason or another. It’s the strongest bench we’ve been able to name so this gave an opportunity to guys to make an impact which they did.”

The Fauldhouse manager is now looking to focus on Livingston United this Saturday as they go on their travels once again and Hendry will be looking to make amends for a previous defeat to United earlier in the season.

He commented: "It’ll be a tough game, we played them not too long ago and they beat us 1-0 at Park View.

"It was a game we probably should’ve won but we made it hard for ourselves. If we create the chances that we did against Bathgate, then I’m confident we can pick up the three points.”
