A Nigerian man accused of engaging in a sextortion scheme that led to the suicide of a South Carolina teenager has been extradited to the United States to face charges. The suspect, identified as Hassanbunhussein Abolore Lawal, 24, allegedly targeted 17-year-old Gavin Guffey, leading to tragic consequences.
Brandon Guffey, the father of the victim, expressed his overwhelming rage upon seeing the suspect in court after a long battle for justice. Lawal is accused of posing as a young woman on social media, coercing Gavin into sharing nude photos, and then threatening to expose them unless he paid.
