A 20-year-old Haitian immigrant who recently lost his Temporary Protected Status died in an apparent suicide in Springfield, Ohio, on Monday, after his father said the young man felt treated like an animal by the immigration system.
According to his father's statements and his own recent social media posts, Pierre Damas Bel experienced severe emotional distress over a government-mandated GPS ankle monitor prior to walking into interstate traffic.
