Father Peter McVerry attacked at his home after 'opening door to person looking for help'

Fr Peter McVerry was left with minor injuries following an assault at his Ballymun home in Dublin.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning last Wednesday, June 8, when an individual called to the house looking for help.

Mr Pat Doyle, chief executive of the Peter McVerry Trust, said: "In light of speculation locally and on foot of media queries, we can confirm that Peter was involved in a minor incident at his home in recent days.
