A man and a group of people in a car have been linked to a shed fire that killed Damien Ramsay in southeast Queensland's Fraser Coast region last month.
Police have released CCTV footage of a man getting out of a car and walking down and then crossing Steley Street, Howard, about 11.50pm on February 17.
Just under two hours later emergency services were called to a fire at a donga style shed where Mr Ramsay lived on Pacific Haven Drive, in nearby Pacific Haven.
Emergency services found the body of the 50-year-old after the blaze, which completely destroyed the shed.
Some of Mr Ramsay's power tools were stolen from another shed near his donga in the lead-up to the fire.
Investigators are asking the man and the people in the car on the CCTV footage to come forward.
"It is believed the man may be able to provide information, which can assist in clarifying the circumstances leading up to the theft of the tools and fire," police said in a statement on Thursday.
It's unclear whether the theft of Mr Ramsay's power tools is related to the fire.
"Anyone with knowledge of the stolen tools pictured is also urged to contact police," police said.
Anyone who was in the Pacific Haven area at the time of the fire and noticed anything suspicious should contact Queensland Police.
