Fastest Accelerating Cars in Forza Horizon 5

Speed is the name of the game when it comes to titles like Forza, and having a solid head start can make a huge difference. That’s what you get when your car is one of the fastest-accelerating cars in Forza Horizon 5, but people just don’t focus on this enough. Zooming past your competitors as soon as the race starts gives you leeway and confidence.

Today, the piece is simple: What are the top 5 fastest accelerating cars in Forza Horizon 5? This isn’t just for going 0-60 mph, but rather going all the way to 200 mph. Will I look at their handling or special horsepower buffs? No, not today. All the speed tests were performed by YouTuber Jakexvx, so you can see the results in real time. Let’s get started.

When looking at acceleration, it’s not fair to look at just the first 60 mph. So this time, I took the time for four acceleration milestones, including:

  • 0-60 MPH
  • 0-100 MPH
  • 0-150 MPH
  • 0-200 MPH

While this should give us a clearer picture, the top of the table was dominated by the same cars throughout. We had:

  • McLaren F1
  • Yokohama Alpha
  • Lamborghini Diablo GTR
  • Nissan ‘Altimaniac’
  • Lotus Evija

Hence, these cars are undisputed when it comes to pure acceleration. Here are the results as compiled by Jakxvx.

0-60 MPH 0-100 MPH 0-150 MPH 0-200 MPH
McLaren F1 Yokohama Alpha Yokohama Alpha Lamborghini Diablo GTR
Lamborghini Diablo GTR McLaren F1 Lamborghini Diablo GTR Yokohama Alpha
Yokohama Alpha Lamborghini Diablo GTR McLaren F1 McLaren F1
Nissan ‘Altimaniac’ Nissan ‘Altimaniac’ Lotus Evija Lotus Evija
Lotus Evija Lotus Evija Nissan ‘Altimaniac’ Nissan ‘Altimaniac’

Now you know their names, but what makes them so special? And how good are they really? Time to find out.

SIERRA Cars #23 Yokohama Alpha

The Yokohama Alpha was one of the top-performing cars in the acceleration trials, topping the table in not one, but two categories. It has the fastest acceleration capabilities for both 0-100 MPH and 0-150 MPH, but is beaten out by the Diablo GTR when it comes to 0-200 MPH.

The Yokohama is designed as a race car: lightweight, chassis-favoured, and aggressively geared. It shines best in short races due to the low mass that allows it to be faster than heavier cars. While its raw power isn’t top of the line, it can be tuned to increase launch potential and reach maximum acceleration.

Take note that the top speed and mid-range acceleration aren’t as good compared to other hypercars, so longer sprints are unfavourable for it. Keep the races short and the tracks straight to see it shine best.

Lamborghini Diablo GTR

The Lamborghini Diablo GTR is right up there in the top 3 with the Yokohama Alpha, beating it in the 0-200 MPH category. The Diablo GTR isn’t the lightest car on the list by a long shot, but due to its high power-to-weight ratio, it can launch off extremely fast.

It has a drag-friendly gearing system and strong tuning potential, meaning that if you learn to tune it properly, you’ll only see your opponents in the rear-view mirror every race. After optimal tuning, it can be considered for the title of the best drag performer in Forza Horizon 5.

The downside to using the Diablo GTR is that it requires extensive tuning. Since this is an older supercar, you need to find the right settings to make it work. Modern supercars are usually stocked with these settings already. This requires slightly more finesse, both when optimizing the car as well as handling it on the course.

McLaren F1

A lot of people only look at 0-60 MPH when considering acceleration, and that’s where the McLaren F1 shines best. Topping the charts for 0-60 MPH acceleration, the F1 is an incredibly lightweight and explosive vehicle to pilot. As you can see in the table, it’s no.2 in the 0-100 MPH category and takes third place for the last two categories. We can deduce that the shorter the span, the better it is for the F1.

The McLaren F1 is a balanced car with a high-revving V-12 engine plus excellent high-speed stability. You’ll, of course, need to tune it a bit, but if properly tuned, it can compete with other supercars with ease. It also has one of the best throttles in terms of responsiveness.

Similar to the Diablo GTR, it does require significant tuning since it’s a legacy car. However, once you get that down, it is easy to keep up with other top performers.

Lotus Evija

Not quite making the cut for the top 3, the Lotus Evija comes in at a strong no.4. The Lotus Evija is an all-electric hypercar that receives instant torque delivery from its motors. What this means is that the moment you press the throttle, it instantly starts accelerating, unlike non-electric cars. This gives it a strong start right off the bat.

The flip side of being an EV is the extra weight of the battery. This weight definitely impacts the accelerating capabilities of the Evija; however, it’s still an amazing car to pick up. Particularly because of its great braking stats and easy handling. You might not be able to beat out heavily-tuned GTRs or F1s, but you’ll definitely see your name on the leaderboard.

Nissan ‘Altimaniac’

Just because I’m mentioning the Nissan ‘Altimaniac’ last doesn’t mean it’s less than any other car. The Altimaniac rated just below the Lotus Evija in 0-150 MPH and 0-200 MPH categories; however, it was faster during the first phase of acceleration. It should be noted that the Altimaniac isn’t typically a hypercar like the others; it simply has a huge amount of horsepower potential and strong torque after tuning.

Since it’s not a traditional hypercar, it has great handling for turns and drifts. Unfortunately, that means without heavy modifications, its speed is lacking heavily. There is a lot of room for tuning and optimization if you know what to do, so definitely check it out if you’re looking for a challenge.
