Farmers upset with power cuts bring a crocodile to HESCOM office in Vijayapura

Farmers who were angry with daylight power cuts by HESCOM, brought a live crocodile to the HESCOM office in Ronihal village in Vijayapura district.

A team of farmers brought the river reptile packed in a gunny bag. They complained that HESCOM officials were supplying electric power only at night and not during day time, forcing them to go to the fields only at night. “At night, we are forced to wade through dark fields and fight wild animals like crocodiles. We brought the animal here only to make the officials realise the problems we face,” they said.

HESCOM officials called the police and forest officials to the site. After some time, the forest officials managed to convince farmers to disperse. Forest officials also took the crocodile away.
