Fantasy start or sit Week 5: Robert Woods, Ryan Tannehill, Derrick Henry

The Tennessee Titans and Washington Commanders will meet in Week 5 in what should be a good spot for running back Derrick Henry, quarterback Ryan Tannehill and wide receiver Robert Woods.

Henry finally crossed the century mark for the first time this season in Week 4, and he did so against one of the league’s best run defenses in the Indianapolis Colts’.

Also of note was Henry’s passing-game usage, as The King saw five targets that he turned into three receptions for 33 yards. In his last two games, Henry has seen a whopping 11 targets and tallied eight receptions for 91 yards.

This is significant because Henry doesn’t normally see a ton of passing-game work, which only adds to his already high fantasy value.

Tannehill looked like he’d have his best game of 2022 in Week 4 after the Titans’ offense got off to a fast start, but he got shutdown in the second half, leading to a disappointing fantasy showing.

While Woods wasn’t great, either, he did find the end zone for the first time this season and continues to make strides towards the fantasy-relevant status he’s had in years past.

With all that in mind, should these three be in fantasy lineups in Week 5? Find out now in this week’s start or sit column for Henry, Tannehill and Woods.

The Commanders have actually been pretty stingy against the run this year, as they’re tied for the 10th-fewest fantasy points allowed per game to backs.

But Washington is also allowing 112.0 rushing yards per contest, ranking 16th, and they are giving up .50 receiving touchdowns per game to the position, which ranks tied for third.

And, with the Commanders ceding 26.8 points per game to opponents and the Titans typically fast starters, there’s a good chance Tennessee will be playing from ahead in this game to give Henry a little extra work

Part of the reason the Commanders have been at least somewhat stingy against the run is because opposing teams have been throwing it at will against their defense.

Opposing quarterbacks are averaging 24.5 fantasy points per contest, the seventh-most in the league, and signal-callers are averaging 2.50 passing touchdowns per game, tied for the NFL’s worst mark.

This is one of the best spots you’ll get this season to start Tannehill, so roll him out there on Sunday.

WR Robert Woods: Start

Marc Lebryk-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans will be down one receiver on Sunday, with rookie Treylon Burks set to miss the game because of turf toe. As a result, Tennessee might need to lean on Woods more than normal.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the relationship between Woods and his quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, grow.

In Week 3, he tallied a season-high 85 yards on four catches, and he followed that up with another four catches for 30 yards and his first touchdown of 2022 in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts.

It feels like Woods is inching closer and closer to the flex/WR2 option he has been for much of his career, and with the Commanders allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to the position, this is a spot in which Woods should finally break out and have his best game of the season.
