Fantasy Premier League tips: Who to buy and captain for FPL double gameweek 34

A double gameweek 34 is on the horizon for Fantasy Premier League managers.

Liverpool, Fulham, Manchester City, West Ham, Brighton and Manchester United all play twice with big points hauls up for grabs if managers can guess right from a plentiful field of options.

With this week’s FPL deadline at 11am BST on Saturday, here are our transfer and captain tips...

Marcus Rashford - Man United - £7.1m

Many managers, myself included, dispensed with Rashford amid his recent injury issues and United’s blank gameweek. That is no longer the case and, with seven games left after a great outing against Tottenham, there are two double gameweeks coming up with the midfielder once again an essential shout. Captain him or Erling Haaland (let’s face it, you’ll captain Haaland).

Cody Gakpo - Liverpool - £7.7m

Liverpool’s somewhat inconsistent improvements of late have been embodied by January addition Gakpo, who has two goals and an assist in his last three games. With Roberto Firmino injured (and leaving), Jurgen Klopp will likely give him plenty of gametime to learn his No9 role, leaving him in good stead against Tottenham and Fulham in GW34.

Alexander Isak - Newcastle - £6.8m

The Magpies only face Southampton at home this weekend but, as fixtures go, that is a prime opportunity for Isak to add to his run of seven goals in eight games. He’ll soon enjoy a double GW36 and, even so, sometimes quality trumps quantity.

Ilkay Gundogan - Man City - £7.3m

In reality, you should have at least Haaland and one other City player in your team. Both GW34 and GW37 are doubles for Pep Guardiola’s winning machine but their treble bid will mean rotations are inevitable. Gundogan is a safer bet to avoid useless three-minute runouts while keeping a good potential for points because Phil Foden’s return will limit Jack Grealish, while Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva swap out on the other wing.
