Joe Rothwell: Thigh injury - unknown return date
He did a sprint and just felt a little something in his quad,” Bournemouth head coach Scott Parker told the Daily Echo. “He won’t be ready for the start of the season.”
Brentford
Kristoffer Ajer: Hamstring injury - expected back August 27
“Kristoffer Ajer had surgery just after the season,” said Bees boss Thomas Frank. “He is actually ahead of schedule so that looks fine.” Asked if he would be fit for opening day, Frank told The Athletic : “No, it will be a little bit longer.”
Sergi Canos: Suspended until August 13
Ethan Pinnock: Knee injury - unknown return date
Pinnock will miss the "first part of the season," according to Frank after suffering the injury in pre-season.
Brighton
Jakub Moder: Knee injury - unknown return date
Seagulls technical director David Weir said: “Jakub’s initial diagnosis was a very complex and severe injury to his knee, and we always felt it was unrealistic to expect him back before the end of this calendar year.” He added: “We fully appreciate the desire to be available for the World Cup, but we have always been clear that the chance of this was always very slim. His rehab is still following the timescale that we originally envisaged.”
Everton
Andros Townsend: ACL injury - expected back October 1
Speaking at the end of June, Townsend told talkSPORT: “The standard for an ACL injury is 6-9 months. I'm almost at three months so I'm either halfway or a third of the way through.”
Salomon Rondon: Suspended until August 13

Ryan Bertrand: Knee injury - unknown return date
Leeds
Luke Ayling: Knee injury - expected back September 3
Stuart Dallas: Leg injury - expected back November 5
Junior Firpo: Knock - expected back September 3
Speaking in mid July, Leeds boss Jesse Marsch spoke of the injury Firpo picked up in his side’s friendly win over Blackpool. “He’s most likely out for eight weeks,” Marsch said. “We’re hopeful that it’s a little bit faster because Junior healed really, really quickly last time after the MCL injury.”
Dan James: Suspended until August 13
Liverpool
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Hamstring injury - unknown return date
Oxlade-Chamberlain went down with a hamstring injury in the first half of the Reds’ 2-0 Singapore Trophy win over Crystal Palace. Ahead of last Saturday’s Community Shield clash with Manchester City Jurgen Klopp said: It's a serious hamstring injury and it will take longer. It's a hamstring, we all hate this word, we hate the injury, but it happens from time to time and now Ox was the one.
"Does he need an operation? No."
Diogo Jota: Hamstring injury - unknown return date
Speaking after signing a new contract with the Reds, Jota said: “Unfortunately for me I had an upset in this pre-season because I got injured [in the] last game of the season playing with Portugal. So I was coming back in this pre-season, I felt it a little bit again. It will be a few more weeks, I would say.”
Manchester City
Aymeric Laporte: Knee injury - expected back September 3
"He's looking really well but we have to be careful because it was a knee,” said City boss Pep Guardiola. “He needs time. I think he will be out for August and then maybe he will start to be with us in September."
Nottingham Forest
Omar Richards: Leg injury - expected back October 1
Omar has picked up an injury, we are still getting to the bottom of it,” said Steve Cooper when referring to a hairline fracture for the former Bayern Munich left-back. “But it is unfortunate what has happened. It is not going to be a few days. But it is not going to be months and months and months."
Southampton
Tino Livramento: ACL injury - expected back January 1, 2023
“Not before the World Cup,” was Ralph Hasenhuttl’s prediction for Livramento’s return when asked earlier this week.
Nathan Tella: Knee injury - unknown return date
Speaking at the end of July, Hasenhuttl said of Tella: “He had a knee injury, not too bad but he is out for a few weeks so we will have a look.”
Tottenham
Joe Rodon: Joined Rennes on loan - expected back July 1, 2023
Richarlison: Suspended until August 13
Oliver Skipp: Gashed leg - unknown return date
Football.London's Alasdair Gold revealed that a Spurs team-mate fell awkwardly on Skipp in training, leaving the England U21 midfielder with a deep cut in his foot from the stud impact and a hairline fracture in his heel.
West Ham
Nayef Aguerd: Ankle injury - unknown return date
Aguerd limped off during the Irons' friendly defeat to Rangers in July, with the club putting out a statement saying: “West Ham United can confirm that Aguerd has had successful surgery on the ankle injury.”

Nathaniel Chalobah: Knock
Harry Wilson: Knee injury
Wilson, Chalobah and Bryan all missed Fulham’s final pre-season match against Villarreal.
“Harry Wilson and Nathaniel Chalobah are both injured,” confirmed Marco Silva post-match. “We’re waiting on the medical staff but it doesn’t look good. Harry’s injury is in his knee but we’ll wait for the medical staff.”
Leicester
Ricardo Pereira: Achilles injury
Ricardo was forced off with the injury during City’s friendly win over Sevilla on July 31. “It was a disappointment with Ricky coming off,” said Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers. “It doesn’t look good but we’ll see how that is. We had an awful injury here last year which set us back. We’re hoping it might not be so bad but it doesn’t look good.”
Newcastle
Jonjo Shelvey: Hamstring injury
“It looks like there is some nerve damage,” said Eddie Howe last week. “We're waiting to see the extent of the damage of the hamstring, if there is any at all."

Theo Walcott: Muscle injury
Speaking about Walcott’s absence from the club’s tour of Austria, Ralph Hasenhuttl said: “He is still injured. He didn’t train so far. He has problems, so it still takes time.”
Wolves
Nelson Semedo: Hamstring injury
According to BirminghamLive, Semedo “should be involved in Lage’s squads before the end of August”.

Michael Olise: Foot injury
Johnstone suffered a thigh strain shortly after joining Palace, while Olise is still nursing a foot injury picked up on international duty at the tail-end of last season.
Everton
Asmir Begovic: Ankle injury
Seamus Coleman: Groin injury
Toffees boss Frank Lampard was optimistic when speaking about Coleman. He said: “Seamus will hopefully be fit on the brink of the season so we’ll see if that allows him to be ready for those first games. We know Seamus, he’ll surprise you all the time, because of his dedication and his body and his desire to play for this club. We saw that last season, and he was really hanging on in there with the injury that he had so we’ve sorted that out.”
Leeds
Adam Forshaw: Knee injury
Leeds are “quite hopeful” that Forshaw’s newest setback isn’t serious.
Luis Sinisterra: Hamstring injury
Phil Hay provided an update for The Athletic after the 23-year-old sustained an injury on his first start for Leeds on their tour of Australia. He said: “From what I’m told, Sinisterra’s hamstring looked like a 10-day to two-week injury.”
Wolves

Wolves say Traore is “progressing well” and he has been training individually.

Liverpool
Ibrahima Konate: Knock
Speaking ahead of a scan for Konate earlier this week, Jurgen Klopp said: “We don’t know exactly yet on (Konate), but it doesn’t look too concerning so I hope we caught it in the right moment."
Curtis Jones: Muscle injury
Jones sat out Liverpool’s final pre-season friendly against Strasbourg with Klopp saying of his injury: “He felt it today and he wanted to play desperately, but then the medical department said no and that we needed to make further tests."
Manchester United
Facundo Pellistri: Ankle injury
Pellistri took to Twitter to explain his early departure from United’s friendly with Atletico Madrid. He tweeted: “I'm fine! I twisted my ankle, a real pity I couldn’t finish the match!”
