The Deshaun Watson sweepstakes is now over, and the winners are the Cleveland Browns. Our Albert Breer reports the Browns gave up a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023 third-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for Watson and a 2024 fifth-round pick. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Watson gets a guaranteed five-year deal worth $230 million.
The move has huge fantasy football implications.
The last time we saw Watson on an NFL gridiron was in 2020, when he led the league in passing yards and finished fifth in fantasy points among quarterbacks. Watson, 26, has averaged more than 20 fantasy points per contest in each of his four seasons. The veteran quarterback would be seen as a top-10 fantasy option at his position heading into ’22 drafts, but a potential league-imposed suspension could impact that rank.
