Starts and sits is here to help fantasy managers make those all important last minute lineup decisions .While we won’t tell you about obvious starts such as Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson, we will find players you may be waffling about and help you make a decision.
Let’s look at quarterbacks for Week 6.
Start: Gardner Minshew, Jacksonville Jaguars
Now that the Indianapolis Colts’ original starter in rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has landed on injured reserve it means that Gardner Minshew gets to take over in what is a revenge game. The Jacksonville Jaguars have a middle of the pack pass defense but the game script for the Colts could be pass heavy if Lawrence and the Jags go up early. With Minshew fueled by the passion of a revenge game win and a nice opportunity to air out the football, Minshew could be a sneaky start for streamers and daily fantasy players this week.
Start: Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford is playing at as high of a level as we have seen him since his Super Bowl run and this week he has all his weapons back against a helpless Arizona secondary. With Stafford playing at an elite level and this Cardinals team forcing teams to continue to score, Stafford can be started confidently as a quarterback one this week.
Sit: Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos
While Russell Wilson has been cooking for fantasy owners this year, it’s hard to project his play at an elite level. Although he is facing a high powered offense that seems primed to put up big points, it’s hard to imagine Wilson doing the same. This Kansas City Chiefs defense is a seriously underrated group and has not allowed more than 21 points in a game this season. It might be hard to bench Wilson given his production so far, but there are a handful of better options this week that could be available for streamers and daily players.
Start: Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
This is a bit of a “swing for the fences” play for anyone in a position to consider starting Bryce Young in the first place, but there is logic behind the play for quarterback streamers and daily fantasy players. Half of Carolina’s secondary is out against the most dominant offense in NFL history (so far anyway) and it’s not a stretch to think Miami could could up an enormous number of points rather quickly. This leaves Young and the Panthers in a position where they will need to throw early and often, and while the Carolina offensive unit as a whole has looked putrid, Young himself has had some solid moments. 300 yards and three touchdowns seems realistic for a quarterback who will have to throw all afternoon.
Sit: Zach Wilson, New York Jets
Last week I recommended fantasy managers start Zach Wilson against the worst defense in the league and it predictably backfired as he looked like the stereotypical form of Zach Wilson. Fantasy managers who rostered Wilson might get cute and try and start him with their starter on a bye, but there has to be a better option for you this week. This New York Jets offensive line is going to get eaten up by Philadelphia’s tremendously talented defensive line, and Wilson will stand little chance against this elite unit. Bench him across all formats.
