The New York Giants (5-9) travel to the City of Brotherly Love on Christmas Day to face the reeling Philadelphia Eagles (10-4) in a Week 16 matchup that has some postseason ramifications.
With year-long fantasy leagues in their postseasons and big-jackpot DFS tournaments winding down, enthusiasts will be looking for any and every advantage they can get.
They might find a few here in this game. Here’s how we see it.
Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson
Wan’Dale Robinson did not factor in the Giants’ 24-6 loss to New Orleans last week (four receptions for 25 yards) mainly because the team didn’t call his number in the run game. No jet sweeps, nothing. The Saints had him bottled up most of the game.
This week, he faces the league’s worst defense against wide receivers in the Eagles. While experts have been banging the table about Philly’s offense, they are forgetting how poorly the defense has played, especially against the pass.
I like Robinson in this game, but it all depends on a) how they use him and b) Tommy DeVito getting time to throw.
Giants TE Darren Waller
Darren Waller returned last week from IR and caught four of six targets for 40 yards. Even though he wasn’t 100 percent, he was clearly being featured.
I expect the Giants to feature Waller even more in this game against an Eagles’ defense that has allowed the eighth-most points to tight ends this year.
Eagles WRs A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith
There’s a lot of talk about the Giants’ promising young secondary, but the reality is they haven’t been very good in covering wide receivers.
The Giants are fifth-worst when it comes to containing wide receivers and the Eagles have one of the best tandems in the NFL in A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith.
Both are smart plays and get plenty of targets. I would expect quarterback Jalen Hurts to look for both of them frequently in this game.
