San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) returned to practice this week, which is great news for fantasy football managers.
Even with CMC back in the lineup, though, it will still be important to keep tabs on handcuff options behind him. Jordan Mason reaggravated his shoulder injury in the 49ers’ last game, so Isaac Guerendo could be worth stashing, especially in deeper leagues.
Elsewhere on the fantasy football waiver wire, Taysom Hill (27%) is a name to know at tight end, Quentin Johnston (21%) could be a savvy pickup at wide receiver and Aaron Rodgers (52%) is suddenly relevant again at quarterback.
Today, though, we’re focusing on the running back position. We’ve put together a quick list of ten running backs to consider on the fantasy football waiver wire this week.
Fantasy Football Running Back Waiver Wire Targets
1. RB Ray Davis (14%): James Cook is obviously the RB1 in Buffalo, but Davis is a very important handcuff with some standalone value. He totaled 90 yards from scrimmage and scored a touchdown on Sunday.
2. RB Isaac Guerendo (9%): CMC is back and Mason is the RB2 when healthy, but if you have the space to stash Guerendo, it could pay off.
3. RB Tyler Allgeier (50%): Bijan Robinson is the primary RB in Atlanta, but Allgeier gets enough touches to make him worthy of flex consideration.
4. RB Braelon Allen (24%): He’s an important handcuff behind Breece Hall, and he has standalone value when the Jets have a positive game script.
5. RB Justice Hill (21%): Derrick Henry is off to a great start this season, but the Ravens will have touches for Hill when they build leads like they did on Sunday. Hill ended the day with 58 yards on eight touches.
6. RB Blake Corum (17%): The Rams have given Kyren Williams at least 20 touches in all but one game this season. If Williams can’t handle such a heavy workload over the course of a full season, Corum would be the next man up.
7. RB Trey Benson (16%): James Conner is playing well this fall, but he is yet to stay healthy for a full season in his career. Benson is his backup.
8. RB Khalil Herbert (4%): He’s buried on the Bears’ depth chart, but there have been rumblings that Herbert could be traded. If he does find a new home ahead of the NFL trade deadline, a change of scenery could lead to a bigger workload for Herbert.
9. RB Kenneth Gainwell (1.5%): Saquon Barkley is having a great season, and if he’s on your roster, you should also carry his backup (Gainwell) just in case.
10. RB Keaton Mitchell (4%): He’s back at practice and just as fast as ever. Mitchell is worth stashing in deep leagues.
Bonus: RB Jaylen Warren (55%) is already rostered in most leagues, but double-check just to make sure he’s not still available in your league.
