The Denver Police Department announced on Tuesday that it arrested two men who ran onto the outfield at Coors Field on Monday night and accosted Braves star Ronald Acuña Jr.
The two men, Jefferson Gonazels-Merida and Carlos Rivelo-Paiz, both of whom come from Denver, Colorado, were arrested on charges of trespassing and disturbing the peace, according to the Denver Police Department.
Another individual, a juvenile whose name was not released, was cited with trespassing after he was apprehended by Coors Field security for entering the field and returning to the stands.
The two fans invaded the field during Monday’s seventh inning stretch, during which they made physical contact with Acuña. Security members could be seen attempting to grab one of the fans and pry him off of Acuña, before another fan ran in and knocked the outfielder to the ground.
The 25-year-old indicated he was okay in the aftermath of the incident, and he remained in the game, which Atlanta won 14-4.
“I think the fans were out there and asking for pictures. I really couldn’t say anything because at that point, security was already there and we were already kind of tangled up, but security was able to get there and everything’s okay. We’re all okay and I hope they’re okay,” said Acuña to reporters after the game, speaking via an interpreter.
