Fans believe that Thor Bjornsson should replace Iranian Hulk and fight Martyn Ford after their grudge match was cancelled.
The British star was set to meet Hulk - real name Sajad Gharibi - in the boxing ring on April 30 at The O2 arena but the main event has now been shelved. Ford previously expressed his desire to meet Bjornsson before and after the Icelandic star defeated Eddie Hall last month.
Now fans believe that Bjornsson should be the replacement opponent for Ford's debut, with one fan commenting: "Get a match up with Thor as a replacement." One fan agreed: "Get Thor banged out fella, challenge him next." Another fan wanted to get Ford to personally ask Bjornsson: "Ask Thor to step up instead!"
A fan also suggested another alternative opponent: "Who is Iranian Hulk anyway? Go for Mariusz Pudzianowski, the only man who has won five World's Strongest Man titles in history."
Another fan also claimed he had predicted this from the start: " Told you... when the fight was announced.!! And later at the first time you threw him on the floor! He's no match for you!"
Whereas one last fan simply agreed with the general consensus: "Thank f*** for that. Your turn Thor."
Bjornsson recently defeated bitter rival Eddie Hall after knocking the British star down twice to earn a unanimous decision nod in Dubai. He has previously suggested he is open to any showdown with Ford if the option was presented after his cancelled meeting with Gharibi.
Who do you think would win if the pair fought - Martyn Ford or Thor Bjornsson? Let us know in the comments section below
"In my opinion, Martyn Ford or Mariusz Pudzianowski make the most sense," He said. "I read somewhere that Pudzianowski only wants to do MMA, he's been fighting now for more than a decade and is a lot more experienced than me, so he shouldn't have an issue boxing a man like myself. Martyn Ford is supposed to be fighting end of April. He obviously has to win his fight for me to consider fighting him."
Ford has yet to make his boxing debut after his fight plan was shelved, but has now confirmed he will continue training in preparation for an uncertain next opponent. He previously emphasised his desire to meet Bjornsson in the ring despite his previous "too soft" jibe backfiring. Ford told iFL TV in an interview ahead of the grudge match. "Like I said before this fight, I was like, I think Thor is too soft. I think he has just not got that (signalling energy).
He later added: "I tell you what, I would take Thor 100 per cent, I don't know if I would knock him out but I would beat him. He's not venomous; there's no snap in the punch. I would back myself. If Eddie wants me to do it, I'd do it."
