Fans have shared their sadness after the death of Depeche Mode's Andy Fletcher was announced by the band on social media on Thursday May 26. The Nottingham born keyboardist, died aged 60. The band shared in a statement: “We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate Andy ‘Fletch’ Fletcher."
Andy was born in Nottingham in 1961, before moving to Basildon, Essex. Fans in Nottingham mourned the passing of a member of one of the most influential bands of the 80s, whose song Just Can't Get Enough is a favourite of Nottingham Forest fans.
Gaynor Morley, a housewife from Bulwell is a fan of Depeche Mode and was hoping they were going to do a tour. The 55-year-old said: “I used to like, well I still like 80s music. When I read it, it was quite saddening that he had gone.

“Just Can’t Get Enough and stuff like that. I was hoping they were going to do a tour - I would of love of [seen them]. They had just released new music - I thought it was quite good, quite catchy.”
Steve Henson, from Bestwood, grew up listening to the 80s music. Mr Henson said: “It’s just sad. [I was a fan] right from the beginning. I’m 58 and when they came out for me I was 17. The electronic age - a lot of bands came out with that sound. I never saw them live - I’ve seen them on YouTube, they have got a massive following. It’s always saddening when a popstar, actor or actress dies.”
Sue Wilkinson, an administrator from Bulwell said she was surprised he had died so young. Sue said: ”I was shocked. I remember the music - I was a fan but I didn’t go to any of the concerts. It’s sad. It’s a shame and it’s shocking - he was really young, they say that 60 is the new 40s now.”
Jim Hallam, 63, who works in construction and grew up in Bulwell said: “It’s sad. I wasn’t a fan of Depeche Mode - they were in the early 80s. He is in my generation, brought up in the sixties like me. It’s very sad.”
Depeche Mode continued in the statement: “Fletch had a true heart of gold and was always there when you needed support, a lively conversation, a good laugh, or a cold pint. Our heart are with his family, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and respect their privacy in this difficult time.”
