The Washington Huskies were able to hold off the Texas Longhorns and punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff national championship game with a thrilling 37-31 victory in the Sugar Bowl on Monday night.
The game came down to the final play, with Texas failing to score a touchdown that would have likely won it. Instead, Washington survived and will face Michigan next Monday night in Houston in a battle between two undefeated teams.
Longhorns super fan Matthew McConaughey was on the sideline the whole night, and ESPN’s cameras showed him watching the last play of the game. Poor guy was heartbroken after his team fell short:
