While Lego typically steers clear of horror games, one fan decided that needed to change and created a version of what Lego Resident Evil 4 might look like (thanks, Kotaku). YouTuber Cara Aleatorio, who specializes in creating Lego-inspired animation sequences, posted a recreation of Resident Evil 4’s iconic opening, where Leon S. Kennedy first encounters the murderous Ganado, made entirely in Lego.
The scene starts as it does in the game, with Leon arriving outside an unnamed Spanish village with his two ill-fated colleagues. The clearly marked dirt roads through the dingy woods are gone, replaced with a more blocky, yet more natural path, lined with Lego trees inhabited by Lego crows that Leon can shoot with his bullet-free gun.
In true Lego fashion, this is a bloodless Resident Evil. Leon’s confrontation with the lone Ganado villager inside a nearby house includes a pain-free gunshot to the leg and a roundhouse kick that sends the villager flying in humorous fashion.
Leon takes a tumble out of an upper-floor window to escape and meets three more angry villagers, including one who looks like a Lego Santa Claus in farmer’s getup. Resident Evil’s over-the-top horror camp fits surprisingly well with Lego’s tongue-in-cheek humor, and we can’t help but wish for a full Resident Evil Lego crossover now.
While that’s not likely to happen anytime soon, there is more Resident Evil 4 on the way., Resident Evil 4 remake launches for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 24, 2023. You can download a free demo of the game’s opening sequence – the same sequence the Lego version is based on – on console and PC now.
