Ken Bruce has officially made his radio comeback after leaving BBC Radio 2 earlier this year. The broadcaster, 72, is now a DJ on Greatest Hits Radio after leaving the BBC following more than 40 years of serving for the organisation.
Launching his new show at 10am on Monday (April 3), Ken Bruce said: "Quality music all the way… you’re going to love it.” He then kicked off his new show by playing Come Together by The Beatles – the opening track of the band’s Abbey Road album, the Manchester Evening News reports.
The new show will last every weekday until 1pm, with some fans having already shared their appreciation. @Wyloom said: "SO clever - Ken Bruce's opening song on Greatest Hits Radio this morning. Last track on Radio 2 was "The End" from Abbey Road, the opener today "Come Together" - a minor act of genius @DavidLloydRADIO." @iPhonie commented: "Nice. 'Last time we spoke I finished with The End from Abbey Road… now let’s go back to the start.' *come together plays* #KenBruce @greatesthitsuk #Popmaster," to which @FionaEndersby replied: "Classy."

Ken also carried over his popular music quiz PopMaster over from the BBC, which aired at the same time, from 10.30am to 10.50am. Contestant Richard received 39 points to win a smart speaker and a Greatest Hits Radio subscription.
And as much as fans were thrilled to have Ken back in their ears, some did find a problem they weren't so happy with. @MARCmakescomics tweeted: "It’s nice to hear Ken Bruce again, but all the ads are annoying, I’ll probably just switch over for Pop Master then go back to be honest." @lennylaw said: "Anyone listening to Ken Bruce? Lots of songs you got bored with twenty years ago and ten minutes of tedious ads every other tune getting on your t**s yet?"
Ahead of his first show, Ken told BBC Breakfast: "It’s a fresh start, it is something a little bit different in a new place. That is always good, for somebody to try something a little bit new, so there I am, ready to go." He added: "There is a certain aspect of oddness about it, yes. I look around the studio I am in and it’s not quite the same as it was."
