Fans point out mistake in ex-UFC star Paige VanZant's "dumbest" tattoo

Fans have pointed out that the writing in Paige VanZant 's new tattoo is supposed to be the other way round.

Former UFC strawweight VanZant recently showed off the new ink to her three million followers on Instagram. She had the words "Heart of a Warrior, Soul of a Lion" inked across her knuckles in memoir to her fighting career.

"Heart of a Warrior, Soul of a Lion. No one can ever deny how much heart I have in my fights," she wrote in the post. "At times I’ll drop everything I have ever learned and fight with nothing but pride, which doesn’t always lead to the best outcome. This is a reminder to myself, I already have the heart and soul all I need to do is take care of the rest."

The tattoo has been mocked by her fans in the comments, as one user pointed out: "Isn't the saying heart of lion and soul of warrior?" Another took aim at the tattoo artist, writing: "That’s the dumbest tattoo ever! He should be ashamed for putting that on you."

VanZant was questioned on whether she got the tattoo after losing a bet, with the user commenting: "She probably lost a bet and had to get a dumb tattoo," Another added: "Top-five dumbest tattoo I’ve ever seen. Not mad. Just disappointed".

After a UFC career plagued by arm injuries, VanZant finished her stint in the promotion with a record of 5-4. In 2020 she signed a lucrative four-fight contract with Bare Knuckle FC, said to be worth over $1million.

Her career as a bare-knuckle boxer hasn't gone to plan, losing her first two fights in the promotion. VanZant also has a string of other opportunities asides form her fighting career, running her own fansite and recently dabbling in professional wrestling by signing for AEW.

VanZant is expected to make her BKFC return at the promotion's inaugural event on British soil for the first time, as they host a London event on July 9. She revealed that she is nearing a contract extension with the promotion despite going 0-2 so far.

“I’m still bare knuckle boxing,” VanZant told MMA Fighting. “I’m still with BKFC. I’m about to sign a contract extension. Of course I didn’t have the greatest success right off the bat but that also fuelled my fire even more.

"I'm training harder and I do see a lot of relationship between my training for BKFC and my training for pro wrestling - the great thing is there’s 24 hours in a day and I’m going to use every single hour of that to train for both.”
