Fans hope N-Dubz 'make up for it' at rescheduled Nottingham show

Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena was buzzing as dozens of fans descended on the city centre for the much-anticipated gig. There was lots of disappointment last month when hip-hop trio N-Dubz cancelled their show at the city venue at the last minute, after Dappy fell ill.

Loyal fans of the band were seen queueing as soon as the doors of the Arena opened at 6pm on Wednesday, December 7 - with the gig starting at 7.15pm. Following the cancellation of last month's Nottingham show, upset fans spoke out about their disappointment.

Dappy had taken to TikTok earlier that evening to say that he was unwell. His post read: "This always happens. Too many back-to-back shows without no proper breaks, now I'm completely f***ed. Voice basically gone, flue, chest infection etc etc [sic]."

Vicki Brown and her friends, who were queueing outside the venue, said they were not impressed with their favourite band cancelling the show at the last minute. The 27-year-old, who travelled from Sutton in Ashfield for the show, added: "Hopefully they will turn up this time."

Kirsty Lee, from Hucknall, 29, has also attended for the second time after the dissapointing cancellation. She added: "It was annoying. I think people are here for the nostalgia, because we were very young when they were playing."

Caroline King, 26, also part of the group, added: "It was a big dissapointment when they cancelled it. They were due to play at 9pm - and we were only told at 9.10pm that it was not going to happen."

But the fans did not let the initial disappointment get in the way. Imogen Spencer, 21, from Mansfield and Stephanie Reid, 21, of Ollerton were among those going to the rescheduled gig.

Stephanie said: “It is one of my favourite bands. I saw them in Leeds not long ago.” She said she was excited for the event.

Her friend Imogen added: “We both have older brothers and sisters who were fans. It’s definitely one of my favourite bands.”

Midday supervisor Hannah Henshaw, from Beeston, said she was excited for the event. The 35-year-old came to the gig with her family. She added: “I’m expecting a massive hype because it got cancelled last month and it’s also the last one on their tour. I’ve come with my family because I want to introduce my children to proper music.”

Katie North, 21, and Yvonne Hodgetts, 27, both of Mansfield, were inside the Arena last time when the gig was cancelled. Katie said: “It has been a while since their last tour. It was a big disappointment when it got cancelled.” Her friend, Yvonne added: “I hope they make up for it.”

Luke Clarke promised that he was not ‘dragged along’ to the gig by his girlfriend Talisa Patel. 26-year-old Luke said: “I’m quite nostalgic, I used to listen to them when I was younger."

However, Talisa said she’s an eager fan. The 27 year old added: “I went to the show in London and absolutely loved it so I bought tickets for this one the next day. They make me feel like I’m 13 again, I’m even wearing my hoops for the occasion.”
