We’re only about a week away from finding out what the Washington Football Team’s new team name will be officially when they debut it on Febr 2nd.
It’s been a long time coming, man. There have been a bunch of leaks that have surfaced giving us the names the team is considering. We’ve even ranked a few of them here.
We’re almost there. We’re almost at the finish line. It’s right around the corner.
But, of course, y’all knew we weren’t going to make it there without somebody sleuthing up another possible name. It’s the Washington Football Team, baby. This is what they do.
Fans have apparently found out that there’s a Washington Commanders domain name that was transferred from the domain registration site Namecheap to MarkMonitor, which is a company the NFL uses for online security with their team sites.
Washington Commanders = confirmed.
The https://t.co/yrU1fTNObC domain was transferred from Namecheap to MarkMonitor (same company NFL uses for all their domains) as of 7:34pm EST today.@WashingtonNFL | #WashingtonFootball | #WFT pic.twitter.com/ru53FDSqR4

Look, no idea if this is legitimate or not. It could certainly be a thing and this might certainly be the name. But we just don’t know yet and won’t know until it’s made official in February.
But that didn’t stop fans from all over from clowning this name. They do not like the Commanders. At all.
