Now, five years later, the couple have told the story again as part of their new Netflix docuseries - Harry & Meghan - but viewers have spotted a few inconsistencies in the two accounts.
As is traditional for royal couples, Meghan and Harry sat down with the BBC for their first chat after announcing their engagement. During the chat Harry said: "It was definitely a set-up — it was a blind date. It was a blind date for sure.”
