Hardcore Nintendo fans are bizarre. The Switch has so many exclusive games that you could swear this console came out in 2001, but it’s never enough for these folks. They want constant reminders that video games will, in fact, come out in the future! As if Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, Metroid Prime 4, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet aren’t still eventually releasing or something.
On Monday, Nintendo announced that the next Direct will focus on Xenoblade Chronicles 3. If that sounds interesting, congratulations – you are a reasonable person! See, fans are outraged because this isn’t a general Nintendo Direct where the heavy-hitters mentioned above get some kind of reveal. I sort of get it, in a sense. It’s still (technically) not-E3 season, with PlayStation and Xbox having strong showings, so where’s Nintendo’s clap-back? In short, there’s probably another more general Direct coming soon.
