According to the annual Moviegoing Trends & Insights study by Fandango, the most anticipated summer films of 2024 include 'Deadpool 3,' 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die,' and 'Despicable Me 4.' These findings were revealed just ahead of the National Association of Theatre Owners' official convention CinemaCon, scheduled for April 8 to 11 in Las Vegas. The study, which surveyed over 6,000 moviegoers, aimed to understand their attitudes and behaviors when it comes to heading to the cinemas.
Joining the top 10 list of the most anticipated summer flicks are 'A Quiet Place: Day One' by John Krasinski, Pixar's 'Inside Out 2,' 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,' 'The Watchers,' 'The Fall Guy' starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, 'The Garfield Movie,' and 'Borderlands.'
Fandango's EVP, Jerramy Hainline, noted that the success of 2023 highlighted fans' enduring love for the theatrical experience, with 2024 continuing the positive momentum as moviegoers eagerly await the return of their favorite characters and franchises to the big screen this summer. Hainline also emphasized the audience's interest in diverse content, beyond traditional films, citing the success of concert films from artists like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.
The study also revealed that 96% of general ticket buyers surveyed purchased concessions to accompany their movie experience. Among the popular choices were peanut M&Ms as the preferred candy and Coca-Cola as the top beverage selection.
