Fancy Edinburgh restaurant hits back after behaviour of dogs ruins diner's meal

A fancy Edinburgh steak restaurant defended its dog-friendly policy after a customer claimed it ruined their dinner.

St Andrew Square's Gaucho was on the end of a critical two out of five star Trip Advisor review in which the customer said three dogs 'sniffing each other's a***s' while they were trying to enjoy a steak was not ideal.

In response, Gaucho's general manager stated the response to their dog-friendly set-up had been overwhelmingly positive.

Despite the unusual complaint, the diner did take time to say the restaurant's state was cooked perfectly.

After their visit to the city centre eatery in August, the customer said: "For a fine dining Argentinian steak house, I can't say the steak I got was seasoned well, and lacked in flavour, it was cooked to perfection however.

"Not sure I agree with dogs being allowed in a fine dining restaurant either, three dogs barking and sniffing each others a***s while I am trying to eat a steak, not really a pleasant experience."

The Gaucho team were quick to reply and said: "Thank you for taking your time to leave us your feedback.

"All Gaucho restaurants are very dog friendly environments. We have a sticker on the Edinburgh door saying we are so, an insert on the outside a-board and it is also mentioned on our website.

"We get lots of positive reviews regarding our dog friendly policy, sorry yours couldn't be one of those.

"Glad to hear your steak was cooked to perfection."

Despite this negative review, Gaucho gains lots of positive feedback from its customers, scoring an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Trip Advisor.
