Fan looking to catch Bruce Springsteen in Dublin pub shocked to see another music superstar instead

Bruce Springsteen fans were shocked on Wednesday night after a songwriting star showed up to play a few tunes in one of Springsteen’s favourite Dublin haunts, and it wasn’t the Boss at all.

The iconic singer and his E Street Band are currently in Dublin in advance of their three sold-out RDS shows over the next few days. Bruce hasn’t been quiet about his time here either, the New Jersey native already visited Pogues legend Shane MacGowan at his home on Wednesday.

Given that when he pops over to the Emerald Isle he tends to enjoy a tipple in the Long Hall bar on George's Street, many fans thought he might arrive for a bit prior to his shows.

Rumours began to circulate on social media that there was a security presence outside the pub, with a queue forming. However, fans of the Glory Days songwriter were left a small bit disappointed when he failed to show.

Despite this, those who were along to see a music star and hear a few songs were left delighted as another singer-songwriter who is closer to home showed up.

It turns out Dermot Kennedy popped along to the pub for a few tunes prior to his arrival at Toners located on Baggot Street where he was set to play another secret gig.

The moment was confirmed in a post on Twitter by Dáil parliamentary advisor Michael Dooley who explained how after waiting outside one of the Boss' favourite spots for a pint, The Long Hall, in a queue, which was donned with a rake of ear-pieced security, singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy popped out.

"Queued outside the Long Hall just there, which was covered in security with earpieces.

"Bruce Springsteen famously enjoys a pint there every time he visits - all the signs were right.... imagine my face, at the top of the queue, when Dermot Kennedy walks out instead."
