Fan favourite track to return to F1 calendar

  • Turkey is set to rejoin the Formula 1 calendar with a five-year deal, bringing the popular Istanbul Park circuit back into the schedule from 2027 to 2031.
  • The agreement was announced by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who pledged a "flawless organisation" for the event.
  • Istanbul Park, which last hosted a Grand Prix in 2021, is known for being the venue where Lewis Hamilton secured his record-equalling seventh F1 world championship in 2020.
  • F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali expressed enthusiasm for the return to Istanbul, highlighting its cultural significance and challenging circuit.
  • Turkey's return, alongside a two-year deal with Portugal, will fill vacancies left by Zandvoort's departure and Barcelona's move to a rotational agreement.
