Inmates in a category C prison were "in darkness" after several wings were left without full access to electricity.
Inmates in HMP Wymott, in Leyland, were left without full access to electricity on Friday and Saturday last week following a fault. The ECHO was notified of the issues by a concerned relative who claimed the men were "in full darkness" following the issues.
The woman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said she was "very concerned" for the wellbeing of her nephew, who has been at HMP Wymott for around a year. The 42-year-old, from Crosby, told the ECHO: "I feel very concerned for my nephew's safety and physical and psychological wellbeing."

She claimed the electricity issues meant the men in the prison were without "proper heating, hot food or hot water". She added: "Without electricity there's no TV, radio or any other source of entertainment."
The ECHO understands the fault occurred on Friday morning, September 2. Seven of the 10 wings had power restored within 15 minutes but several remained without full access to electricity until the power was fully restored on Saturday evening.
The concerned relative claimed her family members had tried to contact the prison regarding the matter but had been unsuccessful. She said: "We are very concerned about the prisoners' safety and wellbeing under such degrading conditions and I cannot sleep at night without doing anything to help them.
"Prisoners were not being told any information about the situation nor when it would be resolved. Although convicted, they are human beings being deprived of basic and essential rights. I understand that issues do happen but this is unacceptable."
A Prison Service spokesperson told the ECHO : "Power at HMP Wymott has been fully restored and the prison is operating as normal.”
