A family-run care home in Hucknall has been rated as good in all areas by the care watchdog after first opening its doors last year. Harrier House Care Home has just had its very first inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Inspectors publish reports based on whether the care home is safe, caring, effective, well-led and responsive to people's needs. The report was published earlier this month and notes that the care home creates a "positive atmosphere" for its residents.
The report on the care home, which opened in May, said: "People told us they were treated with respect. [The] team 'had the time to build trusting and open relationships with people and their loved ones.'"

"People were receiving a personalised service from staff who knew them well." Residents who spoke to inspectors told them they felt safe living at Harrier House and that they were treated with "dignity."
The report adds: "One relative described how their loved one had been supported to mobilise without a walking frame, enabling them to regain their independence. This is down to the staff and their patience; they make time every day to support the residents and the progress is fantastic."
Samantha Kavanagh, the manager at the care home, said: "We were delighted to be inspected by the CQC and awarded the good rating across all areas. It is a reflection of the hard work of all the team.
We will continue to make improvements to provide the best service possible for our residents and their families and ensure Harrier House is ‘a superb place to live or work."
