Family run Glasgow Pakistani Street Food spot is top rated Uber Eats takeaway

With the impact of the pandemic and lockdown life, we've all fallen into the habit of ordering that last minute takeaway when we can't quite find the motivation to make our own meal.

Deliveroo, JustEat, Uber Eats and more are all very good at leading us to temptation and enticing us to bash a couple of buttons on our phone to order some takeaway scran straight to our front door.

Thankfully, with Glasgow's fantastic food scene, there's plenty of choice - we've got world famous Indians, pizzas other cities would die for and an evergrowing list of excellent street food spots.

Of course there's the global brands too. And when you think of the city's top takeaway meal, McDonald's, Pizza Hut or KFC may spring immediately to mind.

However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that, according to reviews left on Uber Eats, amid a handful of places to have landed the highest 4.9. out of 5 rating is a small family-run eatery in the south side of the city.

Based on Victoria Road, in the heart of Govanhill, Pakistani Street Food is described as 'the first and only Pakistani Street Food experience in Scotland', serving the likes of pani puri, channa chatt, Kashmiri tea and falooda.

The owners say their food is 'authentic and pure, like Pakistan'.

And from the incredible feedback left by customers, it's easy to see why this place is so highly rated.

One recent review said: "The best authentic place for Pakistan street food. Always receive amazing service and fresh food.

"Highly recommend the samosa chaat and also their falooda (finally a place that can accommodate for no nuts in it) and the best kulfi, especially on a stick, proper reminds me of childhood times in Pakistan."

One person commented: "Love their falooda and deai tea. Pakistani Street Food is authentic and mouthwatering. Their falooda is one of the best falooda in Glasgow.

"I love their desi too."

Meanwhile, another customer was quick to praise the food and said the takeaway's chicken biryani is 'easily the best you can eat in Glasgow'.

Meat-free food fans may want to put this place on their to-try list too, with one diner adding: "Delicious, fresh food bursting with flavour. The samosa chaat is my favourite.

"There's a lot of options for vegetarians/vegans and for what you pay the portions are huge."

And several people have echoed their views that Pakistani Street Food's popularity is largely in part down to the amount of food you get for such a reasonable price, with dishes costing no more than £7 and as little as £1.50, for their samosas.

One customer said: "Amazing food as always and reasonable prices. Started off with my favourite magic corn, samosa salad, chicken biryani and now aloo roll paratha. Will be back for more".

Of course, as with any family-run neighbourhood food spot, service with a smile goes a huge way, with many online reviews mentioning the friendly owner.

One customer summed up the thoughts of the majority to simply say: "Amazing customer service, superb taste, fresh food, I absolutely love it."

If you haven't yet had a chance to order a takeaway from Pakistani Street Food, tonight might be the night to try.
