The family of a missing 37-year-old who was last seen leaving a pub near Liverpool Street say they are “really worried” for his welfare.
Gurbaksh Sually, who goes by the name Simon, has not been seen since he suddenly left his friends at Kings Stores in Liverpool Street around 7pm on Saturday.
His worried family have not heard from him since, and have told The Standard: “We just really want him to come home.”
They reported him missing on Sunday afternoon, and the Met police is investigating.
Simon has recently been living with his parents in Ipswich, but previously lived in Tower Hamlets.
He works in London for a US-based digital marketing company and has many connections in the capital, particularly in east, north, and north-east London, where both of his two brothers live.
On Saturday, he met a family friend and her fiance at Kings Stores in Widegate Street, Spitalfields, to celebrate their engagement.
“Just before 7pm he walked out of the pub. He just walked off and disappeared,” Simon’s older brother, Mohinder Sually, told The Standard.
His younger brother arrived at the pub a short while later and on hearing what had happened, went to search for Simon, but could not find him.
Simon had been due to meet his two brothers later in the evening, said Mohinder.
Mohinder said his brother has been missing once before, but stressed that situation was very different.
“[He was missing] into the next day,” said Mohinder. “He said his pone battery died and he was a bit worse for wear - he tried to get home and he couldn’t, basically.
“This is really out of character for him now, to be missing for three days.
“We’re just really worried about him.”
Simon’s parents have spent two days in London trying to find him, and his friends and family have launched a social media campaign urging anyone with information to get in touch.
“We don’t really know what to do,” said Mohinder. “London is such a big place, and there’s so many potential places he could have gone or ended up.
“He’s such a great guy - he’s so funny and intelligent, and he’s really loving too.
“We just really want him to come home. If anybody comes across him or is with him or may have seen him, we just would love for them to reach out and get in touch with us. And if he sees [this] that’s even better.”
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed officers were appealing for information on Simon’s whereabouts.
“He was last seen at 6pm on Sat 23 November in the Bishopsgate and Hackney areas,” a spokesperson said.
“We are concerned for his welfare and want to make sure he is safe.”
