Family and friends of tragic teenage soldier Jack Burnell-Williams released balloons in his memory today.
Jack, 18, a trooper in the elite Blues and Royals regiment of the Household Cavalry, was found lifeless at London’s Hyde Park barracks just days after walking behind the Queen’s coffin.
His father Daniel, a 41-year-old heating engineer, told the Sunday People : “We are too heartbroken for words, but I want to thank everyone for their support and sympathy.”
Today's ceremony at a football club close to the family home in Bridgend, South Wales, was marked by the colour blue out of respect to Jack’s service in the Blues and Royals.
Jack, known to comrades as Jak, is in the official Army film of the funeral while leading a black horse to a soundtrack of the Queen’s first TV Christmas speech.
The Sunday People is campaigning for better treatment of soldiers and veterans with mental health problems.
