Family of Thai teen calls for Australian murder suspect to receive death penalty if convicted

  • Australian man Simon Peter Carman, 45, has appeared at Pattaya Provincial Court charged with the murder of 17-year-old Tunchanok Donhomla.
  • The victim's body was discovered inside a suitcase by railway tracks after she was last seen entering a Pattaya condominium with Carman.
  • Carman faces charges of premeditated murder, which carries the possibility of the death penalty, alongside charges of concealing a corpse and indecent behaviour.
  • Although Carman claimed he acted in self-defence, he indicated he would plead guilty to concealing the corpse following advice from the judge.
  • The victim's family have called for Carman to receive the death penalty and have launched a civil suit seeking 1.65 million baht in damages.
